Total area of the Southeast Slaws Province is about 3,814,000 Ha. consist 0f 225,694 Ha. Potential for rice field development ; 619,437 Ha. For horticulture and plantation development ; 669,389 Ha. converted forest, and 2,190,160 Ha. forest area.

Other than this dry land, there are 699,383 Ha. converted Forest possible to expand the dry land area for horticulture and plantation commodities in the future.

Food Crops

There are four main efforts to increase food crops yield in Southeast Slaws. Such as : Intensification, Extensification, Diversification, and Rehabilitation. The significant yield of food crops are expanded rapidly such as ; Rice, maize, soybean, cassava, sweat potato, groundnut, small green pea, vegetables and fruits.

Plantation

The plantation crops are grown rapidly in the province, such as : Cacao, Cashewnut, and pepper, that is the main commodities for plantation sub-sector.

In Repelita VI the Government has great attention to accelerate improvement of these commodities with supported of the agroclimate compatible land and captive market.

Livestock

The improvement of livestock in this province is directed to the improvement of the big cattle, little cattle and poultry which is support by land potency and other resources. There are about 80,000 Ha. herding area, and about 737 ha. mixed farm owned by local government in Wawolemo.

Fishery

The off Shore water of Southeast Sulawesi covering about 110,00 sq. Km. and about 1,740 sq. Km. of coastline. The source potential estimated at 500,000 tons of fish annually. Permanent potential about 250,000 tons. The commercial fishes are skipjack, tuna, trout, yellow fin, shrimp and lobster. Other are seaweed, seacucamber, octopus, have good prospect to develop. In land fishery potential consist of 32,000 ha. mangrove forest that can be converted into hatchery culturing and about 20,850 ha. for fresh water culturing. This year Center Government has decided Wawonii Island as Center of fisheries development for the eastern part of Indonesia.

Forestry

Some of 55,81 % or about 2,128,449 ha. land area is covered by Forest consist of : * Nature reserve and tourism forest ( 238,193 Ha. ) ; * protection forest ( 238,057 Ha. ) : * protection forest ( 376,057 Ha. ) : * Production forest (1,138,205 ha. ) : converted forest and the main product are teakwood, mixed wood, and mangrove. Other are Rattan, Resin and Bamboo.
