Exploitation

Some of the are occupied by PT. Sarana Karya, Which product 182,000 ton in 1993. The total reserve about 160 million tons contain of 15 % - 35 % bitumen. In 1992 Pt. Anisan Australia's. joint venture company produced Avery fine product of asphaltic rock called "Asphalt Micro " ( Very fine Asphaltic with bitumen about 20 % only ), and other called "Mastic" ( about 50 % bitumen ). Those product has been tasted, good quality for road construction. Total capacity of the factories product are 150,000 tons per annum.

3.

Marble

North Kolaka, Kabaena Island, Moramo.

Preliminary -survey

Total reserve about 500 billion M3 , mainly colors are Grey, blackish, white, some reddish. AB deposit has not been exploited yet, expect for local road construction. All location can be reached by car and near the coast.

4.

Limestone

Almost in many parts of S.E. Sulawesi province.

Preliminary -survey

Total reserve about 200 - 300 billion tons.

They are classified as :

  • Crystalline limestone ( for rock of ornanicultalrock of cement industry with CaO : 51 % - 55 %)
  • Coral limestone ( for rock of ornanicultalrock of cement industry with CaO : 51 % - 55 %)
  • Dolomitic limestone ( for cement industry with CaO : 51 % - 55 %, Mgo : 18 - 20 %)

5.

Magnesit

Pandamarang and Lambasina Island.

Preliminary -Exploration by PT. Antam

Associated with ultrabasic rock found in the form as a complex of MgO about 40 %.

Has not been exploited yet, it should be made an Cao : 30 % - 35 %, MgO : 18 - 20 %.

6.

Phosphate

In the archipelago surrounding Buton Island

Exploration

Type of deposit is guano which is founded in limestone Sulawesi cave. The reserve of each cave is form few tons two hundreds tons a P2O5 between 5 % - 14 %. No further information about another type of phosphate rock.

7.

Chromate

North Kolaka, Lasolo, Pondidaha.

preliminary

-Survey

Wide spreads of chromate deposit due to the fact that more than 1/3 of area Southeast Sulawesi consist ultra basic rocks.

No detail survey of chromate deposit has been done. A preliminary survey has reported the deposit found in the regencies of Kolaka, Kendari and Kambaena Island ( Buton Region ).

The deposit found in the form of vein and pod about 1 - 2 meters width and contain of Cr2O3 about 50 %.

8.

Manganese

Lasalimu, Buton

General Survey

Floating of manganese has been found in the jura formation. The size about few cm - 2 meter, which content of Mn between 50 % - 53 %. The exploration is still working by local company.

9.

* SiO2 content :

a.97 %, b. 90 %, c. 90 %.

* Reserve :

a. 150,000 tons, b. 1,000,000 tons, c. 4,000,000 tons (Kwarsit)

10.

Semi Precious stone

Pakue, Pasarwajo, Pondidaha.

Exploration

Deposit of green and black opal found in ultrabasic and schist formation.

No detail survey has been done, it ' Sulawesi seem should to be made further exploration by test pitting and trenching to find higher quality.

11.

Oil

  • Muna and Buton Island
  • Kendari off shore.
