AOPA is dike covering an area of 96,804 hectares* containing many smaller dikes with plantations within them.
Many varieties of indigenous birds and plant life can be seen her. Wild animals abound, running everywhere in this man-made lake environment.
THE LAMADAI NATIONAL GAME RESERVE lies only 39 km from the town of Kolaka, on the west coast of SOUTHEAST SULAWESI, covering an area of 500 hectares. It is known for its goverment protected jungle of ironwood trees.
THE AMOLENGU FAUNA CONSERVATION is the protected home of many of SULAWESI's wild animal species. Covering an area of 850 hectares, visitors will find anoa, deer, and hundreds of birds which are protected by local goverment. Hunting is not permitted in this area**.
Other notable conservation areas are: North Buton, 82,000 hectares; Batikolo, 5,500 hectares; Beropa, 38,000 hectares, and Palm Flower Park, 8,756 hectares.
